About Our Classes
We welcome all students of all experience levels to try our classes at breathe! If you’re brand new to yoga, we suggest starting with power vinyasa basics if you are interested in a heated vinyasa class, or any of the classes offered in our non-heated Wellness Studio. The class descriptions below will help you choose where to start. A yoga mat, towel, and water are the essentials for any class at breathe. More props are available in-studio. If you are practicing from home for yin, foundations, and restorative classes, gather blocks (or books), a yoga strap (or strap substitute like an old tie or a tube sock), blankets, and bolsters/pillows if possible. Your instructor will help you at the beginning of class if you have any questions about props.
Be open to the experience and know that you can always try a different class style or teacher if the one you took didn’t resonate with you! Yoga and meditation are lifelong practices so give yourself time and space to learn at your own pace. Please know that you can always rest during class, as needed.
Power Vinyasa
Power vinyasa is a flow-based, active style of yoga where the poses link together with breath to create an energetic class. When practiced regularly, this class will help you to build strength and increase your flexibility.
Music-Driven Power Vinyasa
This invigorating vinyasa practice uses music as a way to "drive" the energy of the class from start to finish. The teacher is equipped with a microphone to match the music volume set higher than in standard power vinyasa classes. This class is best suited for students who have experience doing yoga.
Power Vinyasa Basics
The intention of this class is to teach the fundamentals of power vinyasa yoga, geared towards newer students or students who like a slightly slower pace. This class is taught with clear verbal communication and instruction to assist newer students in learning the poses, modifications, and breathwork.
Foundations
Foundations is a non-flow class. In contrast to the vinyasa classes where the poses link together to create movement or flow, this class dedicates more time to each particular pose and therefore moves at a slower pace.
Restorative
Restorative yoga is based on its root word "rest.” The intention of this gentle class is to use the support of bolsters, blankets, and blocks to give your body the effect of certain yoga poses - back-bends, twists, forward folds - without using any muscle exertion. It is intended to be a slow, peaceful, and meditative practice.
Yin
Yin classes are a series of long, held, deep stretches aimed at creating flexibility in the connective tissue of the body. Yin classes are most effectively done with the support of props (blankets, bolsters, blocks). Yin is a great compliment to vinyasa, foundations, or restorative classes.
Meditation
Meditation is a practice of mindfulness. Our guided meditation classes employ different techniques to encourage stillness and peace, increase focus and awareness, and bring more calm into your mind and body. Studies show that your physical and emotional health, the quality of your present life, and the way you age will all be impacted positively by regular meditation.
